I am a founding trustee (and former CEO) of the charity Village Water which has provided water to more than 100,000 people. It also provides education and guidance on hygiene and sanitation. It is now recognized by larger partners such as Water Aid and Oxfam as a highly effective organisation.
In 2010, Village Water was awarded the Runner Up prize in the United Nations-sponsored AMCOW AfricaSan Awards. The Awards are dedicated to recognizing outstanding efforts and achievements in sanitation and hygiene in Africa which result in large-scale, sustainable behaviour changes and tangible impacts.
I wholeheartedly endorse the charity and if you are looking for a charity to adopt, you will find your donation really does make a verifiable difference out in Zambia. UNDP has stated that resources expended on water and hygiene delivers more development than on any other activity.
